Neptune Grouper – Cephalopholis igarashiensis for Sale Online
Details about Neptunes Tropical Fish:
Neptune Grouper, also called Cephalopholis igarashiens, is a deep water fish and it’s very difficult to catch it. The adults display a pink coloration with yellow stripes, while the juvenile fish feature brilliant shades of orange and yellow. This amazing fish is one of the rarest to enter the aquarium trade, with this individual probably only being one of a few that have been collected in the last few years.
Like many rare and super expensive live fish, Cephalopholis igarashiensis is a dweller of the deep with a depth range starting out 260 ft or 80 meters and bottoming out at over 800 feet. Very few specimens of Neptune Groupers have ever been caught and the largest known specimen had a recorded length of 17″.
Cephalopholis igarashiensis
Cephalopholis igarashiensis, more commonly known as the Neptune Grouper, is a stunning and highly prized deepwater fish that is very rarely almost never encountered in the trade. There are few groupers that can rival the rarity and coloration of this truly spectacular species. Adults are generally more insanely colored but juveniles are just as, if not, equally beautiful. The three inch juvenile above was brought into Singapore by Coral Farm, and is one of a handful of juveniles to have ever existed in the aquarium trade.
We hope this gem of a fish finds a good home and leads a long fulfilling life. It’s not everyday you get to see a juvenile Neptune Grouper in person, and it is truly breathtaking. A reddish-orange grouper with broad yellow bars on upper sides extending onto dorsal fin, and broad yellow irregular bands on head. Juveniles are more yellow becoming dark below, with several white bars on the body, a large black ocellus on the soft dorsal-fin base, blackish pelvic fins, and a black area on the anal-fin base.
