Joculator Angelfish For Sale Online
Details about Joculator Angelfish For Sale:
Joculator Angelfish, the Joculator Angelfish, (Centropyge joculator), also known as the yellow head Angelfish is a beautiful, not so often seen dwarf marine angelfish that is found only in the Christmas Islands and Cocos-Keeling Islands in the Eastern Indian Ocean. This brightly colored angelfish resembles the Bicolor Angelfish (Centropyge bicolor) but lacks the distinguishing vertical blue bar above the eye. In contrast, the Joculator Angelfish sports a blue ring around its eyes and the same electric blue coloration traces a thin outline along the edges of its dorsal and anal fins.
The Joculator Angelfish is a hardy angelfish that can grow to 3” or more in size. The ideal setup for the Joculator Angelfish is an established marine aquarium of at least 70 gallons aqua caped with a generous amount of live rock and plenty of open spaces to swim.
The yellow head Angelfish Centropyge joculator is quite conspicuous because it is beautiful. This attractive dwarf angelfish is a bright yellow on the front half of the body, dark bluish black on the back half, and has a bright yellow tail. That dramatic color pattern is accented with a brilliant blue ring circling the back of the eye and blue edgings on top and bottom fin. It also stands out because it is a rather pricey novelty and a rare find for the marine aquarist, all of which contribute to making it a very desirable fish.
Centropyge joculator – Joculator Angelfish
Joculator Angelfish should be kept with corals and clams with caution as it may nip at them in search of food. In addition, the Joculator Angelfish is intolerant of conspecifics, so avoid housing more than one Joculator Angel in an aquarium or with other fish that resemble it such as a Bicolor Angelfish or even a Rock Beauty Angelfish.
They should be feed 2 to 3 times per day to help discourage it from nipping at corals or mantels of clams. Feed enriched frozen brine shrimp and mysis shrimp along with spirulina and a quality prepared marine angelfish diet. Approximate Purchase Size: Small: 1″ to 2″; Medium: 2″ to 3″; Large: 3” to 4”.
This dwarf angelfish hails from the Cocos-Keeling Islands and Christmas Island of the southeastern Indian Ocean. It was first collected at Cocos-Keeling in 1974, so it also has the common names of Coco’s Angelfish and Coco’s Pygmy Angelfish. The names Joculator Angelfish and Joculator Pygmy Angel are in reference to its scientific name. A more recent “pet name” describing captive bred specimens is Jock Angelfish. This dwarf has almost the same color pattern as its relative, the Bicolor Angelfish Centropyge bicolor from the Pacific Ocean. But the Bi-Color has a blue bar on the nape of its head, which is missing on this species, and it lacks the blue ring around the eye. This species is not as readily available as the Bi-Color but is a hardier.
